Whirlpool bathtubs: the sign of total luxury
No matter what anyone says, coming home after a hard day in the office and being
able to relax in a whirlpool bathtub is one of the most luxurious things to be
experienced. No matter how tired you are or how sore your muscles are, just a
few moments in a whirlpool bath will make you feel like new again - muscles and
joints eased and relaxed as though you've had a private massage. There's no
doubt that the invention of the whirlpool bathtub is one of the best things that
has happened to bathing since the invention of the bathtub itself!
But once you've decided to install a whirlpool bathtub you need to think beyond
the pleasure that it will give you. Soaking in the bath at the end of the day is
the reason for installing it in the first place, but before you go ahead you
have to decide which size of bathtub you want, and also how deep you want the
bathtub to be. And of course all these things will be dependent on any space
restrictions you have in your bathroom. It's no use looking at the largest
whirlpool bathtub in the showroom if your bathroom can only accommodate one that
is half the size. So the first thing you need to decide is how many people will
be using the bathtub at any one time. You can get a one person model or
two-person model - and as the old saying goes it's always good to bath with a
friend.
Of course the size of bathtub you choose will also have implications on the
amount of water you use - which in turn will have implications for the size of
your hot water tank. If your new whirlpool bathtub needs 100 gallons in order to
function effectively, but your hot water tank holds only 60 gallons, you're
going to have to do some major rethinking. It will be a case of not only
installing a new bathtub - whirlpool or otherwise - but also installing a new
hot water tank at the same time.
Something that many people forget when they install a whirlpool bathtub is that
this type of bathtub uses electricity. As most people know water and electricity
don't mix well - and so you have to make sure that you whirlpool bathtub is
installed by a qualified electrician - preferably someone who has had much
experience of installing whirlpool bathtubs before. When it comes to having it
installed, you will need to have what is known as GFI - a ground fault circuit
interrupter. These can, quite literally, be a lifesaver - and are essential when
having a whirlpool bathtub installed.
Of course, the kind of luxury afforded by a whirlpool bathtub doesn't come
cheap, and you may have to spend thousands of dollars in order to get a good
model. If you really do want to add this kind of luxurious feel to your
bathroom, then it may be money well spent. However, if you don't feel up to
spending that kind of money needed for a fully fledged whirlpool bath, you may
need to look at using a conversion kit. Using a whirlpool bath conversion kit
won't give you the full benefits as those of a proper whirlpool bath, but you
will get some of the benefits of hydrotherapy - and at a much reduced cost.
At the end of the day you get what you pay for, and although installing a
whirlpool bathtub is not a cheap option, having that wonderful water massage to
look for to at the end of a hot day may make the cost well worth it.
