Bathroom liners: a cheap and easy way to transform your bathroom.
Is your bathtub in a real state? Does it have scratches covering the surface? Is
the enamel chipped and discolored, and there are stains on the once-white
beautiful porcelain? Or perhaps the bathtub is just a color that you can't stand
- a cream color when you'd really rather have something vibrant, like red or
bright blue... Your first thought may be to have the bathtub taken out and have
it replaced. But you really don't need to go through this. One of the simplest
ways to change the color of your bathtub, or to get rid of the scratches and
stains, is to install what is known as a bathtub liner.
Installing a bathroom liner is a very simple way to change the look of your
bathroom without all the hassle of going through a complete remodel. A bathtub
liner will usually be made to fit your bathtub exactly, and will be made of
acrylic. This is a great alternative to a remodel if your bathroom plumbing and
other facilities in the bathroom are in good shape, and all you want to do is
change the look of your bathroom. The good thing about installing a bathroom
liner is that you can keep the current tiling around the bathtub - and the same
goes for your bathtub surround. However if you feel that the tiling or the
bathtub surround have also seen better days you can order the bathroom liner to
revamp the walls surrounding the bathtub too.
In order to make the most of this revamp you need to make sure that the bathroom
liner is installed by a professional, and that it has a guarantee which should
include that the liner will not succumb to mildew or leak. A guarantee should
last for at least six months, and possibly up to a year after installation.
The process of having a bathtub liner installed is fairly simple. The installer
will visit you at home and will measure up the bathroom, the bathtub, and the
area surrounding it. At this point you'll probably need to make a decision as to
whether you want just the bathtub relined or if you want to have the wall lined
too. If you decide that you want a wall liner installed, you can choose between
a liner that comes halfway up the wall or one that goes to above head height in
order to accommodate a shower. Some types of bathtub liner are totally enclosed
- and these types are extremely waterproof and can also keep in heat, which can
be essential around winter time.
When the installer has done a survey - which may often include taking
photographs of your bathtub as it is now - the information collected will be
sent along to the manufacturing plant, where the liner will be made to the
precise specifications needed to make sure the job is completed satisfactorily.
At this point any accessories - which can include soap dishes and handrails to
facilitate easy access - which you have decided to include will also be added.
Once the bathtub liner is ready to be installed, the installer will return to
your house and ready your bathroom by making any repairs needed to the walls.
The job will usually take only a day to complete - and then within 24 hours your
bathtub is ready to be used. So if you're tired of the look of your bathroom and
you can't be bothered to go into the hassle of a complete revamp then choosing a
bathtub liner could be just what you need. It's a cheaper option, but it can
transform your bathroom and make it look almost like new.
